How would your pollution containment system react to an emergency?

Following a pollution event a UK car plant operated its pollution containment penstock valve. The full spill response took over 20 minutes to isolate the valve. On full closure of the penstock valve, it was apparent that the flow off site did not stop.

Sandfield Penstock Solutions were asked to look at the operation of the system and deliver a scheme to improve the response time and achieve full isolation.

Our team looked at the current penstock valve and recommended replacement with a full stand alone Toggleblok™ system with a control link to the security office.

The site repeated a spill scenario using Toggleblok™ and a total stop to the site drainage was achieved in less than 20 seconds.
