This is an important lesson in the impact the 2014 Environmental sentencing guidelines have had on the level of fines imposed on business. Its not acceptable for companies to ignore pollution prevention and adopt best practices. I’m sure the £8M fine is far greater than the investment needed to have prevented this pollution event
